Who we are
Valley Link Transmission Company LLC was created to help ensure reliable electricity for homes, businesses and high-demand industries, such as manufacturing and emerging technologies like AI, by building the electric transmission infrastructure needed to support our region’s rapidly growing energy needs and long-term economic vitality.
Formed through a partnership between Dominion Energy, Transource (a partnership between American Electric Power and Evergy) and FirstEnergy Transmission,Valley Link brings together decades of experience and resources to strengthen the region’s power grid and economy for the long run.
As energy demand continues to grow, PJM (the regional transmission organization that coordinates electricity across 13 states) identified the need for new high-voltage transmission infrastructure to keep power flowing safely and reliably. In response, Valley Link proposed future-forward solutions through PJM’s planning process, and in early 2025, these projects were approved.
Valley Link’s mission is simple: to build the infrastructure that keeps your lights on and powers the future while keeping bills as low as possible. By combining expertise from three leading utilities, Valley Link is committed to delivering cost-effective solutions that underpin economic growth, enable cleaner energy and ensure grid reliability for homes, businesses and communities across the region.

Our mission
Valley Link Transmission Company LLC is committed to delivering safe, reliable and efficient electric transmission solutions that strengthen the regional power grid, bolster the economy and support the growing energy needs of communities across the Mid-Atlantic region. Through collaboration, problem-solving and responsible development, we aim to modernize the regional transmission network, enhance grid reliability and make reliable energy a reality for all.
Our core values
- Integrity: We operate with honesty, accountability and respect, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements and maintaining trust with the communities we serve.
- Reliability: We prioritize the delivery of dependable electricity to homes, businesses and critical infrastructure, ensuring grid stability and resilience.

- Community engagement: We believe in transparent communication and active collaboration with residents, local governments and other stakeholders to make informed decisions that respect community needs.
- Future focused: We embrace forward-thinking approaches to modernize the electric transmission network, integrate renewable energy and support emerging technologies.
- Sustainability: Our projects are designed to enable cleaner power to help pave the way for a lower-impact energy future.

Our initiative
Valley Link is a regional energy infrastructure initiative created to meet one of the most urgent challenges facing the Mid-Atlantic: a rapidly growing demand for electricity that is outpacing today’s transmission capacity. Comprising two major 765-kilovolt(kV) transmission projects, and a new 765kV substation project, the initiative will add approximately 375 miles of modern high-voltage electric infrastructure across West Virginia, Virginia and Maryland, forming the backbone of a stronger, more resilient regional grid and economic growth.
Together, these projects will enable the safe, efficient transfer of electricity among states, support renewable and next-generation energy integration and ensure the grid remains strong as demand doubles over the coming decade.
This is not just a forward-looking investment; it’s a necessary response to urgent system needs. Valley Link will mitigate overloading on existing lines, strengthen interstate energy connections and create the capacity required to support clean energy and economic vitality. Built with long-term reliability and community input at its core, Valley Link will help keep power dependable for millions of people, laying the foundation for a resilient and efficient energy future.

What is a joint venture?
A joint venture, commonly referred to as JV, is when two or more companies come together to work on a specific project. They share resources, technology and skills. Each company stays independent, but they team up for a common goal.
Think of it like planning a neighborhood party: each neighbor brings something — food, music, chairs — and together, we create something better than we could alone.
What a joint venture is not
To understand joint ventures better, it helps to know what they aren’t:
- Not a merger or acquisition: Dominion Energy, Transource Energy and FirstEnergy Transmission are still separate companies. We’re just teaming up for this project.
- Not a vendor relationship: This isn’t one company hiring another. All partners contribute and make decisions together.
- Not informal: Valley Link is a legally structured partnership with clear roles and responsibilities.
